WITH DAN FRIEL, DIAMOND TERRIFIER
AND CONTROLLED BLEEDING
14 JAN 2012

Output:NOISE will perform improvised interpretations of mental illnesses in support of the recently released Soundtrack to the DSM-IV. Collaborating on this second edition of the DSM-IV are Output:NOISE artists, Torus and Crushing Something, with Output:NOISE contributor, CJ Boyd and special guests, Valerie Kuehne and David Grollman of the Brooklyn based Prehistoric Horse.

Live at Shea Stadium in Brooklyn on Saturday, January 14th, the Output:NOISE performers will be joined by experimental / industrial pioneers, Controlled Bleeding; local noise artist, and member of Parts and Labor, Dan Friel; and Diamond Terrifier, the sax / electronics solo-project from Sam Hillmer of Zs.

CJ BOYD / TORUS / SPARHAWK AT
SPARK CONTEMPORARY ART SPACE
15 SEPT 2011

A few years ago CJ Boyd visited the former Gallery at Potential Life Studios in Rochester, NY, taking part in an Output:NOISE improv session which was followed by a breathtaking solo set. CJ's masterful bass playing and beautiful vocals are woven into slowly evolving, intricate, compositions that are nothing short of stunning. A prolific artist, CJ performs solo as well as with the Kirtan Choir (formerly the CJ Boyd Sextet) and has been touring non-stop for over three years, on what he dubs his "infinitour." Needless to say, we are thrilled to bring CJ Boyd to Syracuse.

Torus, who will have a live CD available on Output:Noise just in time for this show, are a personal favourite from the Output:NOISE spawn. Having first met and played together at O:N, the guitar, bass and drums improv trio are synergetic and impassioned, bearing a fervency that drifts back and forth between extremities of subtlety and forthrightness.

Also performing will be the Syracuse based Sparhawk. Coming highly recommended, we fell in love with Sparhawk's Birthday Girl single on Scissor Proof Records and now we can't wait to see what they do live.

CJ Boyd, Torus and Sparhawk will perform at Spark Art Space (1005 E. Fayette St.) in Syracuse, NY on Thursday, September 15th.

  OUTPUT:NOISE PRESENTS AN
EVENING OF EXPLORATORY MUSIC
24 JULY 2011

For our 2nd, official, event in Syracuse, we are bringing in two very multi-dimensional, boundary forging artists: Work/Death, hailing from Providence, RI and Baltimore resident Elijah Forest (also known as Lolly Gesserit and formerly known as Terrors.) Of his sound, the man behind Work/Death enunciates his intention to "connect the dots along the path of music concrete, electro-acoustic improv, harsh noise and the pop song" through a sonic palette ranging from "crumbling distortion and dense synth textures to delicate melodies and empty field recordings."

Traveling with Work/Death on a tour that began last month at the Ende Tymes Festival in NYC is Lolly Gesserit, the most current endeavour from the prolific Elijah Forest. Here, Forest implements tape collage, industrial/dub overtones and occasional crooning to invoke a "warm grim meditative blur."

Output:NOISE contributors Craig Marlowe (Rochester) and Jeremy Dziedzic (Syracuse) open the evening as The Table.

Work/Death, Lolly Gesserit and The Table will perform at The Badlands (1007 E. Fayette St.) in Syracuse, NY on Sunday, July 24th.
